Through partnership with S.E.P Nord, we have taken another big step in recycling our materials.
Recycling makes a difference
When we have excess materials left from different events at AKKC, such as carpets and tablecloths, we are very aware of getting them distributed to companies, organisations, and associations able to grant the materials new life and create positive outcomes.
Here, the talented socioeconomic company S.E.P Nord is a good example on how recycling materials also can contribute to a social agenda. For instance, textiles that have been sorted and salvaged for recycling by AKKC’s own employees can be used by S.E.P Nord to create a plethora of interesting new products, such as bags, phone covers, and computer bags. While producing these items for sale, the creative process also creates employment for vulnerable citizens in the community.
AKKC then buys back products and uses them as a showcase when communicating parts of AKKC’s sustainable work to clients, visitors, suppliers etc.
A partnership on sustainability
AKKC partners with S.E.P. Nord because they share our ambition that people, environment, and economy can walk hand in hand. Since 2016, S.E.P Nord’s main purpose has been to establish a relation between vulnerable citizens and the labour market. This relation allows the citizens to work in a position they find interesting or to pursuit the education they wish for.
AKKC supports the organization by providing used textiles that creates work tasks and activates the citizens’ competencies, while allowing them to partake in the social environment provided by a workplace. In turn, S.E.P Nord helps AKKC to reduce waste – a valuable service not only appreciated by AKKC, but by the community and many other companies as well. Therefore, we are extremely happy and proud to be able to enter partnerships with companies and organisations such as S.E.P Nord.
A partnership contributing to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals
The products and their origin are good examples of how the UN’s sustainable development goals are a visible part of the day-to-day work in AKKC. We contribute to SDG number 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production by minimizing waste and by recycling resources. We contribute to SDG number 17 – Partnerships for the Goals by cooperating with other companies and organisations outside our own business during the project. Last but not least, we contribute to SDG number 13 – Climate Action as we actively used the collaboration with S.E.P Nord to communicate and share knowledge about actions that contributes to a more sustainable behaviour.
