Fun
Facts

Our rooms are named after landmarks in Aalborg

At AKKC, we have named our many rooms after Aalborg’s famous landmarks because Aalborg is in AKKC’s DNA, and we want to help raise awareness and focus on all the exciting places Aalborg has to offer when we host guests from across Denmark and abroad.

Moreover, we have chosen to incorporate the pronunciation of the names as used in the North Jutland dialect. One room is called Tunnelen (instead of Limfjordstunnelen), another Broen (instead of Limfjordbroen), and a third Fjordparken (instead of Vestre Fjordpark). In total, AKKC has 26 Aalborg-themed names, including Havnen, Møllen, Gaden, Gåsepigen, and Tyren.

Many of our guests may only be here for a meeting or a conference within our walls when they visit Aalborg. By presenting them with Aalborg’s landmarks and great stories on the walls of AKKC’s meeting rooms, we can send them home with a narrative or even inspire them to return and explore the city again.

Room overview
We have an “elephant door”

AKKC is built for everyone – even for the circus. For many years, there was a winter circus in Aalborghallen, and therefore the hall was designed to accommodate just that. The floor in Aalborghallen is built to withstand an elephant standing on one leg (as it is a particularly unique strain!).

Additionally, Aalborghallen has its own elephant door, allowing the animals to enter and exit the hall. To this day, the door is still marked with a beautiful elephant symbol above it.

The strength of the floor and the design of the door provide many other advantages. The floor’s durability allows us to host heavy equipment, for example, when we have a camping exhibition with large caravans and motorhomes in the hall, or when we welcome the international fishing exhibition DanFish, which showcases heavy fishing gear.

We hosted the largest concert in the Nordics on top of our stage tower

On Friday, April 16, 2021, DJ Martin Jensen performed a spectacular concert from our 35-meter-high stage tower, which included a literal fireworks show with 750 firework launches accompanied by a sea of towering flames.

The concert was streamed via Twitch, broadcasted on the local TV-station TV2 Nord Salto, and covered by media from across the country, titled “Denmark’s Largest Stay-at-Home Concert.”

The concert ended up being viewed online by 1.5 million people.

We have singing trees in the backyard

In Kildeparken, nearly 100 international artists have planted trees, where you can press a button at a music stand that plays a medley from each artist.

Here you can explore trees planted by Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Jeff Dunham, Cliff Richard, Backstreet Boys, Katie Melua, and many more.

The park with the singing trees is found nowhere else in the world, and if you wish to learn more about it, you can find it here.

With three stages and over 100 cultural experiences each year, AKKC is one of Scandinavia’s largest cultural providers.

Fairs & Exhibitions

With over 7,000 square meters of exhibition space and a location in the heart of Aalborg, AKKC is well-suited for all types of fairs and exhibitions, from small product presentations to very large consumer fairs.

We organize the fairs DanFish International and PolarExpo ourselves, and we also assist with the execution of a wide range of other fairs held at AKKC.

Meetings & Conferences

We have years of experience creating the perfect setting for large meetings, conferences, and congresses with up to 2,414 participants, as well as smaller meetings for just 10 people.

In addition to the two large halls, Aalborghallen and Europahallen, you will find various-sized rooms on AKKC’s first floor—all beautiful and bright with high ceilings and, of course, modern AV equipment.

All rooms have access to a shared foyer where refreshments are served during the conference breaks. There is also space to stretch your legs and chat with other participants.

From AKKC, there is direct access to Hotel Scandic Aalborg City and Restaurant Podium. Outside the center, you will find 700 parking spaces.

At AKKC, we do everything to meet your wishes and guarantee a high level of service and a good experience for all.

Sustainability

Through our certification according to the event sustainability management system ISO 20121 and our Nordic Swan Ecolabel certification for meetings and conferences, we have committed ourselves to improving the execution of events and leading our organization sustainably.

Therefore, we have established a department that works tirelessly towards sustainable transformation.

Additionally, we actively work to share Aalborg’s sustainability story and support the many good initiatives happening in the city that promote sustainable transformation in Aalborg.
