Olivia and her heart of gold is the title of the beautiful mural created by the world-renowned Argentine artist Martin Ron in June 2023 on AKKC’s 600 sqm stage tower. Martin Ron, also known as Ron Muralist, is considered to be among the top 10 street artists in the world, and the mural in Aalborg is his first work in Denmark.
Bringing a world-renowned artist like Argentine Martin Ron to Aalborg was no easy task. It happened in collaboration between Aalborg Kongres & Kultur Center and KIRK Gallery, where gallery owner Lene Kirk had Martin Ron at the top of her wish list due to his high artistic quality in artworks all over the world and the great interest in him from art enthusiasts – there’s even a lot of tourists who travel around the world to experience the artworks “in real life.”
About the artwork at AKKC, Martin Ron stated:
“In the middle of the composition, Olivia, dressed in red, defiantly looks at us. Her eyes shine with determination and bravery as she holds and clings to a golden heart-shaped balloon. This heart, seemingly repaired from a previous puncture, remains inflated, symbolizing the ability to overcome adversity and all our emotional wounds. Additionally, she inspires us to find strength in our vulnerability, to repair our damaged hearts, and to remain filled with love and hope.”
